2023 SPECIAL ELECTION
VOTER GUIDE
A Special Election will be held on February 21, 2023 to fill the recently vacated Gainesville District Board of Supervisors position. Here is a copy of the court order.
ELECTION DAY
Date: Tuesday, February 21, 2023
Hours: 6:00 am – 7:00 pm
Locations: Voters should go to their assigned polling place. Find your assigned polling place here.
EARLY VOTING
Early Voting starts on Tuesday, January 17 and runs through Saturday, February 18.
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (- 5:00 pm on weekends)
Weekdays: Open Monday - Friday
Weekends: Open on Saturday, February 4, Saturday, February 11, Sunday, February 12, and Saturday, February 18
Location: Main Office, 9250 Lee Ave, Manassas, VA
Curbside Voting: Available for seniors and voters with disabilities at all in-person voting locations in designated parking spaces. Drive-thru voting is not available.
VOTE BY MAIL
Apply online or download the application to email, mail, fax, or drop off your application.
Deadline to Apply:
Friday, February 10, 2023 at 5:00 pm
Return Your Ballot:
In person - By February 21 at 7:00 pm at any polling place or the Office of Elections (or any early voting location during the early voting period)
By mail - Postmarked by Tuesday, February 21 and received by Friday, February 24 at 12:00 pm

To track your mail ballot, sign up for BallotTrax to receive email notifications or text updates when your ballot is mailed to you, when your ballot is received by the Office of Elections, and the status of your ballot after it is received.

A sample ballot will be posted by mid-January once the candidates are nominated.
CANDIDATES
The deadline for candidates to file is Tuesday, January 3, 2023. The candidate bulletin is posted on the website of the State Department of Elections.
REGISTRATION
Register online here or download a voter registration form to mail your registration.

Same-Day Registration (*new*):
Voters are now be able to register and vote on the same day if the voter registration deadline has passed. Voters should ask to complete a Same-Day Registration when they check in at an early voting site or polling place.
Young Voters
17-year olds that are turning 18 by the November 7, 2023 General Election are eligible to vote in this special election.

Redistricting is complete and your precinct may have changed from past years. Polling place and voting district information have been mailed to all voters. If you missed it, you can look it up here:
